Writing Life Updates

I've gotten loads of good early feedback on the first half of re-write of Shackles and Shards: Shattered and have been either incorporating the feedback or busily adding even more words. As of right now, I'm at 75,013 words in this new draft. I am aiming for 140,000 words based on my outline so I am halfway there!

After so many books, I have a sense for how long the book will be based on how long my outline is and even though I have chopped up my outline a few times and re-arranged things, I still feel like Shackles and Shards: Shattered will come in around 140k words.

In one sense, I am a very bad author when it comes to keeping track of my word count. I have both Pacemaker Press and Trackbear, as well as having a daily habit counter in TickTick to track my daily word count but I just... Always forget to update those thing. Part of it is that Scrivener tracked it automatically so I was never bothered if my Pacemaker Press wasn't up to date because I could check Scrivener. But now that I've converted and Loreforge doesn't have a goal feature, I'm being forced by circumstance to actually track it and I am failing.

Trans Rights Readathon - Sapphic SFFH Edition [Sapphic Fantasy Recommendation Inside]

I wanted to get this out to you sooner rather than later so you can start planning accordingly. For the last three years, there has been an effort in the reading and book community to support trans rights in the lead up to Trans Day of Visibility.

From March 17th to March 31st, the book community is encouraged to read books either by trans authors or featuring trans characters and make donations that improve the lives of trans and non-binary people.

This is not a reading challenge, so there's no bingo card and no minimum number of books, there's no official place you must donate to, and no official book list. It's all very decentralized. You can read only memoirs, you can read just a handful of books, you can read a hundred books across all genres! You can donate $1 per book read, you can donate $0.04 per page read, you can donate a flat $20. You can give to an individual GFM for a trans person needing help affording basic living expenses or you can donate to a major non-profit. You can even donate to multiple places!

You can read all about the Trans Rights Readathon on their official website and pledge to take part today!

If you aren't sure where to start with choosing books, well, I can be of help! I've gathered a non-exhaustive list of books in the speculative fiction genre featuring sapphic relationships (be they romantic relationships or queerplatonic relationships) by trans and non-binary authors. Over 25 books as well as links to where you can snag them!
